In today’s blog post, we will be learning the phrase 달려요.   달려요 comes from the basic form of run ‘달리다, and means “to run”. Despite the literal meaning of running (action),  달려요 / 달린다 can also mean figuratively to ‘go on’, ‘work’ or to ‘depend on’.    Whereas, 뛰어요 will be the literal action of jumping/running and cannot be used figuratively.   For example: 계속 달려요 = Keep going!   올해 더 열심히 달려요! = Let’s work harder this year   내가 갈지 안 갈지 오빠에게 달린다 = It will depend on oppa if I’m going or not.  ...

In today’s blog, we will learn about the phrase 화이팅.   화이팅 (romanized “hwaiting” but pronounced more like “hoy-ting”), is used as a cheer or word of encouragement–like “Let’s go” or “Do your best”–but can also be used as “good luck” to someone before a test or endeavor of some kind.
