In today’s blog we will be learning about simple grammar 이/가 to help create simple sentences in Korean!
An example of a short sentence can be seen in our post above.
강아지 = Dog
귀엽다 / 귀여워요 = Cute
Simple sentences can be formed in Korean with simple adjectives and nouns.
As ‘지’ from 강아지 does not have 받침, the grammar postposition will be 가 instead of 이, thus, 강아지가 귀여워요.
What is 받침? 받침 is the final consonant (or consonant cluster) at the end of a Korean syllable. The 받침 is written in the bottom/final position.
An example of a noun with 받침 can be 뱀, which will be 뱀이 무서워요.
