생기다 means to come up or occur. It can also mean “to look like”. Let’s see how it is used in each situation:
미안해요, 일이 생겨서 만날 수 없어요. = Sorry, I can’t meet you as something came up.
오빠가 잘 생겼어요. = Oppa, you’re good looking (handsome).
누나 더 못 생겼는데요 = Nuna, you’re more ugly.
이 도로에 새로운 쇼핑몰이 생겼어요. = There is a new shopping mall on this road.
매일 늦게 자면 병이 생겨요! = You will turn sick if you sleep late every day!
생기다 will be one of the most useful words you can learn to use in daily speech so make sure to practice.
